Current status

Blood Secrets is currently in its first beta. The persistent world is up and running; players may create characters and advance them through the game's Societies as vampires, lycanthropes, or mere humans. Blood Secrets also has an integrated level editor, so that players can design and play their own levels.

Most Recent Features

11th January 2009: Players can now recruit Followers as backup on combat missions. Contact the Manager of any Society for which you have headquarters access.

30th November 2009: A Tutorial is now available to make it a bit easier to pick up the basics.

8th November 2009: In-game televisions will now open a new window and show a variety of setting-relevant public domain films.

20th August 2009: Summoning powers. This was pretty much a prerequisite to making Sorcerers worthwhile. Now I'm thinking what to do with Familiar powers.

Next feature to be implemented

Hirelings

Features still to come:

Sorcerers
NPC companions
Co-operative play
Trading
Crafting
Player guilds
Vaguely acceptable AI
and, of course, PvP

Welcome to Blood Secrets

Blood Secrets is an MMORPG/PBBG (playable browser-based game) set in a modern gothic world of supernatural forces pursuing their own agendas at the edge of society. As a brower-based game, no download or installation is required, and the game can be played from anywhere.

Game Features

Modern Gothic Setting: Blood Secrets is set in a dark, modern world, with many of the trappings of our world but where werewolves, vampires, necromancers and other supernatural powers stalk the night.

Free To Play: Blood Secrets does not require a subscription, nor does it take "microtransactions", but is ad-supported. All features are available to all players.

Browser-based MMORPG: Blood Secrets allows massively-online role-playing in your browser window. No downloading, no Flash, Shockwave or Java; a javascript-enabled web browser is all you need to play the game

Open-Ended Characters: Blood Secrets is classless, and players are free to develop their characters in any way they wish, bringing up all abilities and skills at the same rate for a well-rounded character or trying to go far quickly with a specialist

Mission-based Experience: No random encounters or wandering monsters, all experience is a reward for completion of missions

Society-given Missions: Get missions from societies you join, and work your way up the ranks for bigger, better jobs

Player-generated missions: To allow players to fully involve themselves in the game, and facilitate limitless variations, game levels are created by players with a simple in-browser point-and-click level editor

Endless role-playing possibilities: With nearly 70 skills (each with many levels), over 300 weapons and ammunition types, a level cap of 50 and the ability to join and advance through many organisations, Blood Secrets offers an unparalleled ability to write your own story for your character.

This game is designed to run under Mozilla Firefox.

It does not work in Internet Explorer, due to IE's clinically insane approach to Javascript and of CSS files, and will not be altered to work with IE for the foreseeable future. Users are advised to switch to Firefox.
Google Chrome may work for some sections of the game, but is unreliable in others, so is not recommended.
